Kyu Furukawa's Japanese Garden and Tea

There are two gardens at Kyu Furukawa. The Western garden with it's controlled spaces and roses, and the more rambling and natural Japanese garden. And of course I took a walk through that.

Over the meandering streams.

Where snapping turtles live.

Out to the Kokoro Heart pond.

Where colorful koi greeted me.

Under shapely trees.

And another beautiful blue sky draped with white filmy clouds.

Where hydrangea glowed.

And sunlight played with the green leaves of trees.

Trees that arched overhead in an attempt to bring coolness to the hot humid day.

And to my surprise, the Japanese Tea House was open.

Of course I went in. I couldn't miss this chance to take photos of it. I'd viewed it from afar my two previous visits.

Along with the opportunity to partake of traditional Japanese tea.

Delicate sweets, wagashi, offered as part of the service.

Along with a delicious bowl of matcha. It had been a long time since I participated in a tea ceremony and I didn't remember much as to what I should do. But it was a nice moment to enjoy in the quiet of the garden.

One last look at the Kokoro Pond.

And one last look at the house.

I did not take photos of the vendor booths that were there. I did buy a couple items. I didn't pack a tote bag and I was thinking I really needed one for an upcoming event. Lucky for me there was this inexpensive canvas tote that fit what I needed.

And I knew if I didn't buy this charm I would be regretting it. Me and my love for nonexistent real blue roses goes way back to my childhood. Of course it's also something in the present.
