Kyu Furukawa Gardens

Finally good weather.

After taking a train or two from Ikebukuro Station, I ended up strolling along a street in Kita-ku.

It was definitely spring in Tokyo.

Even saw another fuzzy guy who was hoping someone would give him some food.

A little unsure if I was going in the right direction, I finally made it to the place I had wanted to see for a couple of years.

Beautiful camellias were blooming there.

And just beyond the camellias was this regal looking house. It was the home of Baron Furukawa and this was Kyu Furukawa Gardens. Which is known for this mansion designed by Josiah Conder and completed in 1917.

The gardens are also known for their beautiful roses. Except they were not in bloom in March. But just beyond, something is blooming.

A really spectacular sakura tree.

Which offered a beautiful view of the mansion.

And an amazing view above.

Right below the mansion was the geometric rose garden.

But even without the roses, this tree made the visit worthwhile.

There is more to the gardens, which I will have a few photos of in my next post.
