Takeshita Dori

This is the famous Takeshita-Dori. On a Sunday. When it's raining. With massive amounts of people.

This is actually a little ways in. Entering across from Harajuku Bridge was insanely packed with people.

It was really hard to take photos, but we did get a few. Colorful shoes to contrast with

Something older.

Johnny's Boys anyone?

Can't miss the Takenoko Shop.

Sunday at Harajuku

A few more photos of the crowded bridge of tourists, locals, and such. Friends getting together and hanging out, some dressed as their favorite band members and some just dressed for fun.

I didn't remember there were this many photos, but then again a lot of people go to Harajuku. Especially on Sundays.

From my trip back in March 2008

I've submitted this to JFesta for their special 2011 edition. You can check out JFesta here which will be updated when they have all the submissions ready to show. And if you like to read about Japan or blog about it (even if you aren't there) you can participate too!

More Fashion from Harajuku

I've thought about putting these on my fashion blog, but since they are from my first trip to Japan they are here. More of the fun in Harajuku.

I asked to see her boots.

And she showed them. Awesome!

The guy in the brown jacket was facing a radio that he was lip syncing to music by U2. The other man, I understand he is there many Sundays. Maybe if you go you will see him?

Yoyogi Park

Here is a few photos from Yoyogi Park in Harajuku.

So we get off the subway and make our way out. Being our last real day in Japan and it being Sunday, we made our way to Harajuku. Sure enough we found Yoyogi Park and way more people than one would think given how cold and rainy it was.

As you can see from these photos it's quite crowded at Yoyogi Park. Groups of people set-up speakers and boom boxes and dance. It was fun to watch these guys. They have a lot of energy.

One dances for a while then changes places with another guy.

There's gotta be a lot of stuff in that hair to keep it up after all that dancing.

There wasn't a lot of room to walk to or from the park, but still people set-up food stalls.

So the park is to the left and to the right is Meiji Shrine. Of course this isn't the shrine, it's the Hachiko Shibuya Community Bus.

This is the entrance to the Meiji Shrine. The Tori, which according to Encarta are the largest in Japan.

We didn't go into the Shrine area. It was raining a bit and cold. And there was much to see.

Also at the Shrine.
