One thing unique to Hama Rikyu Gardens is the Inabu Shrine.

The original date of construction is not known. But an original shrine was thought to exist
in the late Edo Period in a slightly different location on the grounds.

Considering this was a private estate it's not unheard of having a private shrine. Want to see more of the Inabu Shrine?

The original building collapsed in the 1894 earthquake so the Imperial Household had it rebuilt. Several repairs including after the Kanto earthquake left it a bit changed.

So in 2005 major repairs were done to return it to how it was during the Meiji Period.

It's a lovely little shrine which feels like it needs caretakers.

Quite a contrast to the skyscrapers of Shiodome.

But lovely and makes you feel like you have gone back in time.
