Meiji Jingu (March 15th, 2011) Minami-Shinmon
Amazing to see this immense gate. From what I have seen of shrine and temples in Japan, the gates almost seem as important as the main shrine buildings. Since some house important papers and statues, it's understandable why they were built so strong.
Would you like to look inside?
The details are so beautiful. From the carving of the trim and the doors to the Imperial chrysanthemum on the lanterns it's all so beautiful.
And the empty courtyard. Next post about the trip will be what is in the courtyard. Thank you for reading!
