Sunday Stroll: Gardena Obon 2011
Going to festivals are sometimes a fun and inexpensive way to have a good time. One of the best ones I've been to was the Garden Buddhist Church Obon Festivals a few years ago.
So when it came up this year I was hoping to have a good time.
The big draw is the Obon dancing. This is one of the biggest in California.
The church is very nice. Inside has a lovely meditative feel.
You may notice I have a few photos of the grounds and the church.
In part because due to taking photos in Japan I've become more observant of the little details. Very nice work on the roof line of the church.
The other reason was there wasn't as much going on as there was a few years ago.
Same really good food which was nice. Simple sushi don and inari, udon, grilled chicken and of course yummy just cooked andagi donuts.
There were games for the kids but not the exhibits and tea ceremony like they had a couple years ago. (I like the woman's bag though)
They did have taiko and later the dancing but it was so hot we did not stay. I'm sure things were fun later in the evening.
