Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden's Ume Blossoms

Tokyo 3-13 113

What a pleasant surprise it was to find this grove of ume trees.

I'd seen ume blossoms before, but not like this. I'm sure they might have been even more earlier in the year, but for me some of these trees were gorgeous.

Not just the blooms but the dark sculpted branches against the sky. For ume like sakura put out blooms before leaves. Thus we get to see their flowers with no distractions. I couldn't help but get closer to take photos.

I only wish I had been there when there was more sunlight. But still the blue sky was nice to have.

Even without sunlight the trees still stood out.

I was reminded of weddings for some reason.

Perhaps it was the many petaled blossoms clustered together?
