Actually this. What the waitress blightly called "Japanese Pizza", the only thing they serve there. We knew it better as okonomiyaki!
Although it was a rather strange one, filled with green onion, pickles and fried egg.

Which oozed out when you cut into it. As for the beer, most restaurants we found had one main brand. This place was something called Malt's by Suntory.

Cooking up the food! The staff there were very nice, and we were happy to be able to say we had okonomiyaki in Japan. However some of the people sitting around us didn't seem as happy we were there. I think they were just surprised. I got use to this after a time, you have to.

Afterward we went for a walk along the river. We admired the lovely Ochaya and pretty lights.

This post is part of Show Me Japan. Take a look, there are lots of good blogs there.
We stumbled upon a great and cheap okonomiyaki restaurant in Kyoto, not in Gion though, it was in a residential area in somebody's basement. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great A and Y! I wish I was brave enough to go into more restaurants there. Maybe in the future.
