Gotoku-ji Temple in Setagaya, Japan

After our long walk through the town and neighborhood we reached the gate (mon) of Gotoku-ji Temple.

The temple grounds is where the remains of Ii Naosuke lie, famous daimyo and Tairo during the Shogun years. For more information about who he was, easier to post a link than to type.

As you can see, the grounds and buildings are quite beautiful. There are many different shrines and temples here. On one side is a Shinto cemetery.

Even though this complex is smaller than some, we spent a few happy hours wandering around, taking photos and just enjoying the place. However, this isn't all what we came to Gotoku-ji for...

From March, 2008.
